RSPO is a global, multi-stakeholder initiative on certified sustainable oil palm products
The organisation is not-for-profit and unites stakeholders from the 7 sectors of the palm oil industri: Oil palm producers, processors or traders, consumer goods manufacturers, retailers, banks/investors, and enviromental and social non-governmental organisations (NGOs) to develop and implement global standards for sustainable palm oil through cooperation within the supply chain and open dialogue between its stakeholders
All members have committed to produce, source and/or use sustainable palm oil certified by the RSPO.
What is palm oil?
It’s an edible vegetable oil that comes from the fruit of oil palm trees. Two types of oil can be produced; crude palm oil comes from squeezing the fleshy fruit, and palm kernel oil, which comes from crushing the kernel, or the stone in the middle of the fruit
